This large steel clad factory was limited by specific requirements. The design and look had to match corporative rules from the international mother company. The technical specifications were for a state of the art plant for world class car upholstery, the budget allowed for plain warehouse technology.
The interaction of these forces resulted in a finely balanced structure that certainly does not look like a warehouse and creates a pleasant atmosphere both on the interior and exterior of the building.
By playing with separated steel clad planes and trapping pieces of sky between steel filigree, it created the perception of a human scale on the large scale extended facades. Light and shadow, textures and the profiles of plain chromadeck sheeting were used to create a sophisticated look with a limited budget.
Special finishes were applied to avoid the usual washed out look of steel sheeting.
